SCHS - National Honor Society

In collaboration with the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), Swartz Creek High School sponsors an active chapter of the National Honor Society for eligible SCHS students to learn and grow as student learners and leaders.  The Swartz Creek High School NHS Selection Guidelines have been made available for download in the menu posted in the column to the righthand side of this webpage.
The everyday "pillars" of the National Honor Society demand high standards of all student members which have been detailed below:

Scholarship means making the most of the educational opportunities provided and seeking out learning, not only in school or similar settings, but also personally. Scholarship means providing maximum effort and a maintaining a desire to contribute to this world in a positive way by building on one’s own knowledge, skills, and talent.

Service is voluntarily seeking out and engaging in meaningful service, not simply doing acts of service to fulfill a school, district, or program requirement. Service can be driven by a passion for a specific cause or people in need. Other times, it’s driven by personal or family need, like taking care of siblings or other family members, or maybe even working part-time to help with family finances.

Leadership builds on service and leadership and can look very similar. Leadership requires carrying oneself with dignity and taking ownership and responsibility for one’s own actions and participation.

Character is valuing diverse cultures and building relationships that reflect love of self but also concern for others. Character is not about praiseworthy or blameworthy behavior but the personal commitment to ethical and compassionate decision making that positively affects oneself and others.

School and community organizations interested in obtaining the volunteer services of Swartz Creek High School National Honor Society students may submit a request using the online request form which is accessible through the link below:

The National Honor Society staff advisor, Mrs. Jane Giblin, will review all such requests and respond to those organizations that have submitted requests.
